Tranman Update - Partnership delivers new system to bring about fleet management efficiencies
A partnership project to deliver a new fleet management system across three ambulance trusts has been completed by the Northern Ambulance Alliance.
The Tranman project is up and running across North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. It is believed to be a first for ambulance trusts across the country.
The three trusts had the opportunity to work together through the NAA on the investment as their old systems were due for replacement and it was an opportunity to realise efficiencies and further develop strong partnership working.
The Tranman system, developed by Civica, supports near real-time details on vehicle availability. It helps manage servicing and repair of all vehicles in trusts and is used by fleet managers, workshops and mechanics.
It manages servicing and repair of all vehicles within a trust and can be operated completely paper-free. It can link data to produce dashboards, give live updates on vehicle servicing requirements and provide automatic parts re-ordering.
While the system has been in place since earlier this year, it is now in the benefits realisation stage – ensuring each trust gets the maximum benefits from the digital system.
Neil Maher, Assistant Director of Estates, Fleet and Facilities Management, North West Ambulance Service and Senior Responsible Officer for the Tranman Project, said: “There have been significant savings achieved in the procurement of this system, however we see the real value of it as a long-term investment for the three trusts in terms of future operating costs, process redesign, organisational learning, fleet quality, and the ability to make better informed decisions for future fleet procurements.
“There has already been learning achieved between the trusts during the procurement and implementation phases, and I look forward to transitioning into operation to gain knowledge transfer, partnership working and efficiency and quality gains for all the NAA organisations in the coming years.”
Jeff Gott, Acting Head of Fleet Services, Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “In the fast-moving fleet environment the Tranman system allows the NAA trusts to manage and use data in a more effective way. This enables our fleet managers to make the right decisions, ensuring we deliver a compliant, reliable, efficient and cost-effective vehicle fleet to our patient facing colleagues.
“The procurement and implementation project has delivered a great learning and development opportunity for the three trusts which moving forward gives the NAA fleet community a shared platform for benchmarking and future efficiency savings.”
Keith Hawker, MD Transport and Blue Light, Civica, said: “I’m pleased that NAA are live and seeing the benefits of using Tranman, our fleet management software. The project success is down to everyone doing their part with diligence and commitment to deliver a digital solution that underpins business improvement in fleet management across the three ambulance trusts. It has been an exciting and complicated journey, with additional challenges added by COVID-19, but all involved across our organisations have remained focussed and ensured this project concluded successfully.”
